Smiles Change Lives Provider
Overby Orthodontics and Dr. Eric Overby are proud to participate in Smiles Change Lives since 2012. Orthodontic treatment is expensive and not necessarily accessible to all, and that’s where Smiles Change Lives, or SCL comes in.
As a part of SCL, we donate our orthodontic services to children who would otherwise not have access. We’ve treated thousands of children and teens in the southern Minnesota area and have seen first-hand how braces can have a positive impact on a child’s life.
Check out these before and afters of past Overby SCL patients, Natalie and Yesenia.
ABOUT SMILES CHANGE LIVES
Smiles Change Lives was established in 1997 as an initiative to provide needed orthodontic care to children from families who could not afford treatment.
Since its founding SCL has grown into a national nonprofit organization with nearly 750 orthodontists participating and donating their dental services. With approximately 12,000 children receiving orthodontic treatment thus far, SCL is continuously improving the lives of those who otherwise would not have access. Having the best smile is something that boosts self esteem and restores confidence in kids that may otherwise have been self conscious.
How Does Someone Apply for SCL?
Applications are always open. Applying is as easy as going to smileschangelives.org and clicking ‘Apply Today.’ The application process consists of 3 basic initial questions followed by providing information on the child seeking treatment to gauge if the child meets the programs qualifications. There are varying wait times depending on provider availability and location. The wait list is always being monitored and updated, so applicants can monitor their movement on the list.
